Thanks for your interest in taking lessons with me.

I primarily teach guitar and pedal steel, but i play several instruments, coach bands and teach production and composing.

​

My TeAcHING PHILOSOPHY - 

​

1) My main task is to deepen my students' passions for music. This causes everything else to fall into place.

2) Find the balance between fun and paying your dues. The more hard work you put in, the more fun music is. 

3) Everyone is capable of being a great musician, its a matter of commitment.

4) Transcribing, or learning by ear, is the best way to get better at playing.

5) Music theory and reading sheet music are great tools for some, but unnecessary for others.  Everyone has a unique journey and your music education should reflect this. I don't offer a standard curriculum.

- Learning songs and breaking down the parts.

- Memorizing the fingerboard of the guitar

- Building speed and versatility

- Understanding genre

- How to improvise

- How to write parts

- The CAGED system

- Standard scales and chord shapes

- Harmony, rhythm and music theory

- Reading traditional sheet music, Nashville Number system and jazz style lead sheets

- Production

- Playing in a band

I provide value to my students by offering a depth of experience from over 1,000 gigs, dozens of Recording sessions, 6 years of undergraduate and graduate education and over 20 years of playing guitar. Plus, I still take lessons myself!
